National Association of Scientific Materials Managers

Welcome to the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers' Website.

NAOSMM is a professional organization of laboratory managers, science storeroom personnel, teaching lab coordinators, purchasing personnel, and chemical safety officers that was founded in 1974. Our members include representatives from academia, manufacturing, research laboratories and pharmaceutical companies.

Our organization can assist you in your science laboratory environment to function more safely, efficiently and economically. It provides a platform for members to share ideas and information with others who understand their unique problems and challenges.

NAOSMM annually sponsors a national Conference and Trade Show which is held at a different location throughout the United States each summer. The conference features insightful seminars that will help keep you abreast of current topics, trends and issues at the forefront of our industry. The trade show is an ideal place to interact with the 60-75 vendors who are displaying the latest in scientific equipment and materials. Travel grants to the conference are available for new members.

A certification program has been developed to enhance our growing profession. Visit the Certification Page to see the requirements to become a Certified Scientific Materials Manager (CSMM). Our quarterly magazine, The Newsline, contains articles relevant to our association and allows our members to stay abreast of recent developments in our profession.
